The Defro Optima HG 32 kW wood gasification boiler is a manually fed log wood boiler for water-based warm water heating systems. It is suitable for heating systems where split logs are used as fuel and the generated heat is integrated into the heating system via a buffer tank.
The 32 kW version belongs to the higher output class of the Optima HG series and is intended for systems with a correspondingly designed heating system, a suitable chimney, and professionally dimensioned hydraulics.
The Optima HG operates as a wood gasification boiler with an upper filling chamber and a lower combustion chamber. The wood is first degassed, and the resulting wood gases are directed through the combustion nozzle into the lower combustion chamber where they are afterburned.
For heat transfer, the boiler uses a tubular heat exchanger with turbulators. The combustion chambers are lined with fireclay bricks designed for the gasification process and high combustion temperatures. An induced draft fan supports the control of primary and secondary air, while the electronic control system monitors boiler operation.
The wide filling door makes it easier to load split logs, and the design with separate doors provides access to the filling, combustion, and ash areas. A cleaning mechanism is provided for cleaning the heat exchangers, allowing regular maintenance tasks to be carried out more systematically.
The standard safety temperature limiter interrupts the power supply to the fan if the boiler temperature becomes too high. This ensures the boiler is designed for controlled operation within the intended system conditions.
The Defro Optima HG 32 kW is intended for closed heating systems according to DIN 12828. Operation requires integration into a system with a buffer tank so that the generated heat can be continuously absorbed and later released as needed to the heating circuit or domestic hot water preparation.
For stable system operation, a professionally designed return temperature boost, appropriate safety devices, a suitable chimney, and coordination with the responsible specialist company or chimney sweep are particularly important.

The installation of the wood gasification boiler must be carried out by qualified specialist personnel in accordance with applicable regulations and manufacturer specifications. Before commissioning, the hydraulic integration, safety devices, electrical connection, water filling, and connection to the exhaust system must be professionally checked.
The connection to the chimney should be coordinated with the responsible chimney sweep before installation. For boiler operation, an adequate fresh air supply, a suitable installation room, a buffer tank, and a return temperature boost with sufficient return temperature are essential.
The boiler is intended for operation with suitable hardwood in log form. The use of other fuels or non-approved materials is not intended.
For safe and long-term operation, the operating manual, water quality specifications, regular cleaning, and maintenance intervals must be observed. The output selection should always be based on the specific building and system conditions.
